Jazz outdoors and indoors is heating up this summer. Here are interesting and noteworthy happenings to check out this week:
Throwdown At Essex Pub, Thursday 9pm featuring legendary bassist Juini Booth with Steve Baczkowski on sax and Ravi Padmanabha on drums. No doubt this will be far out there music with rhythms and melodies floating in the – some to be heard and some not!
The Three Kings Trio - Night In Brazil, Friday at 8pm at PAUSA Art House with Jim Beishline on piano, Ben Levitt on Bass, and Abdul Quadir on drums. With World Cup fever in frenzy, this trio gives us the sounds of Brazil.
My Cousin Tone’, Saturday at 8pm at the Pizza Plant on Transit and Sheridan. A summertime party indeed until 11:30pm with three full toe-tapping sets.
Wegman’s on Sheridan this Friday at 6pm will have Becky Davis with Jim Calabrese on keyboards.
The Why Not? Trio will be performing at City Nights Celebrations beginning at 4pm on Saturday with Keven Doyle on piano, Matt Felski on drums, and Brian DeJesus on bass.
Carina and the Six String Preacher with guitarist Vince Jame Mastrontonio and Carina Mastontonio on vocals will be at PAUSA Art House this Saturday at 8pm doing pre-1960's jazz in the likeness of Les Paul. Doing songs surely from their recent CD "Liquid Think".
The Silo City Soundcheck with Kelly Buchager on sax, Time Clarke on trumpet, and cellist T.J. Borden will be performing in Silo City on Saturday at 9pm.
