The sounds of Jazz Funk, Jazz Soul, and Jazz Fusion will hit the streets of Allentown and Downtown this weekend. Visiting Duke’s Bohemian Bar on Wednesday August 6th is the Grammy nominee jazz organist Brian Charette. If you are a fan of jazz funk and the B3 Hammond organ sound, the trio of Brian Charette on organ, Matt Michaud on guitar, and Carmen Intorre, Jr. on drums. This trio gives us another homecoming performance by Matt and Carmen.
The trio has performed before together and have played in Toronto. Look for a soul stirring time at Duke’s with the infectious sounds of jazz funk organ. Here is a clip of the trio performing in Toronto:
Also happening Wednesday August 6th is an ensemble featuring Phil DiRe on tenor sax, Bobby Militello on alto sax, Phil Sims on trombone, George Caldwell on keyboards, Bill Staebell on bass, and Russ Algera on drums. A star-studded line up for sure! The event will be taking place in front of Giancarlos in the Walker Plaza on Main Street in Williamsville. They will be performing from 6pm until 9pm.

On Thursday August 7th, EPQ will be at The Tudor Lounge at 9:30pm. This group features Ellen Pieroni on alto sax and represents the emerging class of college and recent college grads hitting the scene and keeping jazz alive. Cheer ‘em on!
On Friday, August 8th, My Cousin Tone’ plays Nietzsche’s on Allen Street beginning at 6pm until 9pm. Special guest Matt Harris will be featured on tenor sax. This marks MCT’s fourth appearance here and it is a festive time.
On Friday August 8th, Gruvology will be at PAUSA Art House beginning at 9pm. After hitting Nietzsche’s, walk over to PAUSA and see the hottest jazz-fusion band in the Buffalo area. Led by Bernard Kunz and Walter Kemp, III – it is guaranteed to be a hot time.
Friday August 8th also continues the appearance of Joyce Carolyn with the Abdul-Rahman Qadir Trio at the 31 Club
Special Citizen Returns
This Saturday, August 9th, marks the return of extraordinary jazz bassist Cameron Kayne. As many know, Cameron is now part of the world renowned United States Air Force Jazz Band. On this special night, Cameron will reunite with his Dad, Dave Kayne, one of the area’s premier vibes performers. Rounding out the ensemble will be Kelly Bucheger on sax, Michael McNeil on piano, and John Bacon, Jr. on drums. A great opportunity to welcome home Cameron and see what is sure to be a special evening of father and son making jazz music at its’ best.
