Nominations Sought For First Annual JazzBuffalo Reader’s And Fan Poll

The Greater Buffalo area is beginning to see an emerging abundance of vibrant jazz talent and artists, which is enriching our community.  It is time to recognize and foster the growth of locally gifted jazz artists who contribute through their dedication to the music of jazz.  Here is your chance to give your voice towards acknowledging the performances of local jazz artists and groups who share their musicianship with the community.

Please contribute your nominations to the first-ever and first annual JazzBuffalo Reader’s And Fan Poll.  There are 25 categories listed.   You can place up to five nominations for each category.  And, don’t worry – if you have only one or two names – just contribute those names.  If you have none, you can skip to the next category.

After the nominations are collected, the 2014 JazzBuffalo Reader’s and Fan Poll will be published for official voting.  Nominations will be open between now and the end of the year.   The poll will be published for voting shortly thereafter. 

Of special note is the creation of the John Hunt Jazz Artist Of The Year Award, which you the readers and the fans nominate and vote for.  John Hunt, in his tenure as the music director of WBFO from 1976 until his untimely death in 1985, elevated jazz to prominence in Buffalo, not only locally but nationally as well.  His legacy and contributions continue to be felt even today.
