Remembering a great. This Jazz In Town weekend and upcoming week begins with the news of the tragic loss of one of Buffalo’s gifted jazz artists and most-loved people in the music community. Ted Reinhardt, a prolific jazz-fusion drummer, along with his life-long friends Mike Buxton and Bill Shaver, lost their lives in a tragic airplane crash early Wednesday morning. Prayers and thoughts are with the family and friends of each of these men.
Ted Reinhardt paved new grounds in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s with the famed group Gamalon. He also performed as the drummer for Spyro Gyra, most notably on their breakout introductory song, Morning Dance. Over the past few decades, Ted was generous and a giving musician, sharing his knowledge and gifts with musicians and fans alike. He and his buddies will be missed.
