As spring-like temperatures crawl their way back to WNY, the jazz scene heats up.
The resurgence of a JazzBuffalo is picking up steam. This year, more jazz will be happening than what has taken place in the last few years. Support the veterans and support the young jazz artists making their mark.
Here are some of the Jazz In Town events you can find this weekend:
Jazz In Town
The Buffalo Jazz Octet returns to Pausa Art House. This band of original compositions takes music in all directions of jazz. Check out the previous review here. See the Jazz Example, led by Doug “Trigger” Gaston, this Friday beginning at 8pm at the Anchor Bar
The Hot Club of Buffalo will be at Shakti Lounge, Saturday beginning at 8:00pm
Sol Y Sombra will be at the Anchor Bar at 7pm on Saturday
At 8:30 on Saturday you can catch All Hands at Oliver’s Restaurant
Our town is blessed with a new rising class of youths interested in keeping the jazz art form alive. One way to do that is to support their recitals. Here are two:
Ellen Pieroni, this young saxophonist will be having her Junior Recital take place this Saturday, April 4th at Buff State Ciminelli Recital Hall beginning at 7:30pm. This young talent can see often playing with EPQ and Blue Stone Groove.
Eric DeJesus, young jazz guitarist will be doing a recital next Thursday April 9th at Villa Maria College beginning at 11:30am. He will be joined by some of the up and coming bright young jazz stars in Buffalo such as his brother Brian DeJesus on bass, Michael McNeil, Damone Jackson on drums, Ralph DeMarco on sax, Anthony Re’ on vocals, and Danielle Green on vocals.
Bassist extraordinaire Wayne Moose will be kicking off a weekly Wednesday Night Jazz hosted by Wayne Moose and Friends beginning Wednesday April 8 from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at Mezza Restaurant on Elmwood and Delevan. Wayne looks to kick it off with guest Dave Schiavone.
JazzBuffalo will be hosting Sunday Jazz Series at 189 Main in East Aurora beginning in May. The events will take place from 4pm until 7:30pm every third week of the month from May until September. Stay tuned for more news.
Pete and Will Anderson Trio will be making a stop in Buffalo on their national tour May 19th at Premier Cabaret at MusicalFare Theatre.
