Jazz In Town
Wednesday Night Jazz. Bassist extraordinaire Wayne Moose brings jazz every Wednesday night beginning at 6:30pm at Mezza Restaurant on Elmwood Avenue. On Wednesday, April 22, you will find guest Tim Clarke. Tim Clarke is one of the finest musicians in the JazzBuffalo community as well as the 2014 JazzBuffalo Readers and Fan Poll winner for Trumpet. On April 29, Janice Mitchell and Jim Beishline will be guests.
Colleen Williams and The Bobby Jones Trio will be making their first appearance Saturday, April 25 at Pausa Art House beginning at 8pm. Here is a chance to hear this long-standing collaboration of singer and pianist.
The Katy Miner Quartet will be at the Roycroft this Friday April 24th beginning at 7:30pm with vocalist Katy Miner backed-up by Phil Sims, Tom Kasperek, and Paul Zapalowski.
HEARSay will be playing happy hour at Sportsmen Tavern Friday, April 24th at 5:30pm and features David Kane on piano, Michael Miskuly on violin, and Cathy Carfagna on accordian and keyboards for a taste of Gypsy Jazz.
Look for this unique duo of George Kane on guitar and Wayne Moose on bass at the Saigon Café in Buffalo this Friday April 24th beginning at 9pm.
On Saturday April 25th find guitarist Warren Stirtzinger with Mark Filsinger on trumpet and Paul Zapalowski on bass at the Saigon Café beginning at 9pm.
Guitarist Walt Kopicki and bassist Wayne Moose do Sunday Brunch April 26 beginning at 11:30am at the Left Bank in Buffalo.
On Sunday afternoon at 4:30pm find the Phil Sims Quartet with Phil Sims, Tom Kasperek, and Paul Zapalowski playing at 189 Public House on Main Street in East Aurora.
On Sunday April 26, Rishon Odel present JFT with Toney Rhodes, Jerry Livingston, and Flute Pocket beginning at 3pm for a spiritual and hymnal experience at the Church of the Advent in Kenmore
On Tuesday, April 28th beginning at 8pm Hallways brings in another internationally acclaimed jazz group, Tim Berne’s Snake Oil. Labeled an “Essential NYC Jazz Icon”, this brand of free jazz sounds packs a powerful punch.
Upcoming
JazzBuffalo will be hosting Sunday Jazz Series at 189 Main in East Aurora beginning in May. The Jazz Series get off to a big jazz bang start with Phil Dire and Friends on May 17th where he will have Dave Schiavone, George Caldwell, John Bacon, and Jim Colemon join him on stage. The events will take place from 4pm until 7:30pm every third week of the month from May until November. Stay tuned for more news.
Pete and Will Anderson Trio will be making a stop in Buffalo on their national tour May 19th at Premier Cabaret at MusicalFare Theatre.
Fabulous female jazz vocalist Nancy Kelly makes a visit to MusicalFare Premier Cabaret June 19th with her band she will perform with at the Rochester International Jazz festival. More news coming.
