Celebrate the 4th of July with jazz! 

Canalside is the focal point of this year’s Fourth of July celebration in Buffalo.  And, no doubt, will be for many years to come.  It is an exciting renaissance for Buffalo!  Look for jazz at Canalside and throughout WNY.

George Scott Big Band At Canalside

GsbbOn Saturday, July 4th at 1:45pm downtown at Canalside check out the fabulous George Scott Big Band.  Conductor George Scott brings both traditional as well as contemporary big band sounds every time.   Evoking the era of big band dance music, which remains a strong influence on jazz today.   So get your dancing shoes on and go see The George Scott Big Band.  The band features some of most talented musicians in the area including Melissa Kate on vocals, Dr. Barry Boyd on bass, Mike Ihde on alto sax, and many more….

Why Not? Plays At Pausa Art House

Why not

Kevin Doyle leads a band known for paying tributes and this Thursday, July 2 at 8pm is no exception.  The band will be paying tribute to the late Ornette Coleman who recently passed.  Ornette Coleman was an influential jazz artist on both the mainstream and free jazz scenes.  Tim Clarke on trumpet, Mark Harris on bass, and David Phillips on drums join Kevin to form the Why Not? band.

 

 

 

Jazz Cache

Matt michaudOn Sunday, July 5th at  Nietzsche’s beginning at 9pm you can see Jazz Cache led by Ben Levitt on bass.  Special guest is the talented jazz guitarist Matt Michaud, home from the Denver area.  Joining in on the fun will be Mark Filsinger on trumpet, Jared Tinkham on guitar, and David Phillips on drums. 

 

 

 

 

Jazz In Town

Music on mainSee My Cousin Tone' Thursday July 2 beginning at 6pm for the weekly Music On Main event in Williamsville.  The band will be on the patio of the Irishmen Tavern and features Karen Ragusa on bass, Tony Zambito on percussion, Jim Matteliano on keyboards, Bill Basil on drums, Andy Peruzzini on trumpet, and Tim Martin on sax.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Matt and abdulOn Sunday at the Historic Colored Musicians Club the Matt Michaud Trio with the legendary bassist Juini Booth and drummer Abdul-Rahman Qadir will kick off the 6pm start of music for an hour to be followed by the jazz jam.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On Friday at 8pm see the Jazz Example at the Anchor Bar led by Doug “Trigger” Gaston
