The Halloween night will be upon us, but there will be nothing spooky about jazz. Look for the finest in jazz throughout the Greater Buffalo area. Thanks to all the folks who came out for two big JazzBuffalo partnering events last weekend. In Quiet Nights at MusicalFare Theatre and Cindy Miller at 189 for the Sunday Jazz Series!
Star People – The Miles Davis Project
On Friday, October 30th at 8pm you can see the performance by Star People. A project led by pianist George Caldwell that delves into the music of Miles Davis. It features Bobby Militello, Tim Clarke, John Bacon, and Danny Ziemann joining Caldwell. Takes place at Pausa Art House.
Jazz In Town
On Thursday, October 29th you can catch The EC Trio at Merge beginning at 8pm with Ed Chilungu on keyboards, Sabu Adeyoloa on bass, and Tony Zambito on hybrid percussions.
On Friday, October 30th see vocalist Einat Agmon perform in an intimate setting at Merge with Ben Levitt on bass, and Tony Zambito on hybrid percussion in a unique combo. Beginning at 8pm.
On Friday, October 30th see Katy Minor Trio at Saigon Café with Phil Sims and Jack Kulp beginning at 8pm.
Catch George Caldwell on piano Saturday, October 31st beginning at 8pm at Gigi’s in Kenmore
On Saturday, October 31st catch the Bobby Militello Quartet and Giancarlos with Bobby Jones on piano, Jim Colemon on bass, and Russ Algera on drums.

The Bobby Lebel Orchestra Special Halloween Concert
On Saturday, October 31st at the Lancaster Opera House, the Bobby Lebel Orchestra will be giving a special concert performance. Noted for its rockabilly and swing sounds with such songs as Stray Cat Strut, it will feature local jazz artists Andy Weinzler, Phil Sims, Jim Tudini, Mark Harris, Tim Clarke, Jason Moynihan, Elton Hough, and Dennis Tribuzzi. Bobby Leleb on guitar and vocals will also be joined by Donna Kerr, Helen Lebel, and Kitty Durham on backup vocals. Tickets are $25. The show gets underway 8pm with the band The Trend as the opening act.

Gruvology will be at the Buffalo Grain Elevators Illumination Celebration on Wednesday, November 4th beginning at 5pm.
Jazz Fusion superstar saxophonist David Sanborn appears at the Buffalo State Performing Arts Center on November 5th.
Internationally celebrated jazz trumpeter Dave Douglas will be at the Albright-Knox on Saturday, November 7th beginning at 7:30pm. Look for my interview with Dave Douglas here on JazzBuffalo this weekend!
Buffalo gets a special visit from jazz legend saxophonist Joe Ford. The Buffalo-born native will play to special dates on November 13th at Pausa Art House and November 15th at the Colored Musicians Club.
