Jazz In Town: Christmas Week Homecomings Brings Jazz Along

Christmas week is a time for homecomings, family, reunions, and seeing old friends.  In the JazzBuffalo community, it means musicians can gather and play like old times as well.    

Wednesday Night Jazz

Bill_ToddThis week (December 23rd) for Wednesday Night Jazz hosted by bassist Wayne Moose at Mezza Restaurants brings home two ex-Buffalo residing jazz musicians.  Bill Todd on saxophone and Matt Michaud on guitar.  Rounding out the band with Wayne Moose on bass is Alec Dube on vibe and John Bacon, Jr. on drums.  Things get underway at 6:30 pm.






Young Jazz Artists Return

Elliott scarazzoOn Wednesday, December 23rd beginning at 6 pm, you can catch the young and talented jazz artists Elliott Scozzaro on sax and Alec Safy on bass who are home for the holidays.  Joining them will be the gifted young jazz guitarist Jared Tinkham.  See them at Nietzsche’s in Allentown. 








Jazz In Town

Phil simsOn Saturday, December 26 at the Saigon Cafe at 8 pm see the trio of Phil Sims on trombone, John Werick on bass, and George Kane on guitar.  

See Kevin Doyle led Sol Y Sombra, Latin jazz, at the Anchor Bar on Saturday’s beginning at 8 pm.

Saturday Brunch and Beats at Hot Mamas Canteen will have What's Cookin at 1 pm on December 26

See guitarist Adam Bronstein Solo at Merge on Saturday, December 26 at 7 pm

On Wednesday, December 30th at Mason's Grille in Hamburg at 7:30 pm see the Frank Gerard/Ray Chamberlain Quartet featuring vocalist Cheryl Ferris

See pianist George Jones with bassist Bill Stiebel and drummer John Bacon, Jr. at Oliver’s every Saturday beginning at 8 pm.

On Sunday, December 27 at the Historic Colored Musicians Club, see the quartet of Elliot Scozzaro-alto saxophone, Matt Michaud-guitar, Alec Safy-bass, and Abdul Rahman Qadir-drums for the first hour of the 6 pm to  9 pm jam.  

A reminder that the Joe Baudo Big Band performs every Tuesday at the Sportsmen Tavern from 12pm to 2pm.
