Orchestra Meets Jazz – Thursday, January 21st at 7 pm
This event will feature The Historic Colored Musicians Club joining the BPO to commemorate the historic role Buffalo has played in the evolution of jazz. The rich heritage of jazz in Buffalo is filled with stories of jazz giants who have traveled to and performed in Buffalo. And, many were born right here in our great city as well!
The band from the HCMC joining the BPO is about as impressive as you can get. It will consist of George Caldwell on piano, Barry Boyd on bass, Carol McLauglin on saxophone/clarinet, Abdul-Rahman Qadir on drums, and Donna Robbins providing jazz vocals.
After the concert, you can also join the George Scott Big Band in the Mary Seaton Room for more fabulous music and dancing. A night of celebrating the fantastic legacy of jazz in Buffalo with the Historic Colored Musicians Club and the BPO!
