Jazz In Town: Native Sons Return With Stellar Jazz

Jazz continues throughout Great Buffalo.   Despite the midst of winter gripping the area, musicians and fans alike keep jazz alive in WNY.

Highlights

Ed chilungaHappening at Pausa on Friday, February 19th at 8 pm at Pausa Art House will be the Inside/Outside Trio featuring the multi-talented Ed Chilungu on piano, Brian DeJesus on bass, and David Phillips on drums.  Ed brings original compositions, some blending jazz and classical, to his performances.    

 

 

 

 

 

CEREBRAL PEOPLE Buffalo TabloidOn Saturday, February 20th, Buffalo native, bassist Joe Goehle, returns to town with his band Cerebral People.  The band features Joe Goehle: Bass, Jim Piela: Alto Saxophone, Alex Slomka: Trombone, Alec Dube: Vibraphone, and Josh Bailey: Drums.  Check them out at Merge on Delaware beginning at 9 pm.

On Sunday, February 21st at 6 pm at the Colored Musicians Club Sunday Jam, see pianist Toney Rhodes followed by open jam at 7 pm

On Tuesday, February 23rd beginning at 7 pm at Coco’s, you find vocalist Mari McNeil at MoulesFest with George Kane, Brian DeJesus, and Jon Lehning.

See the Jazz Example at their weekly Friday spot at the Anchor Bar beginning at 8 pm.

See Kevin Doyle led Sol Y Sombra, Latin jazz, at the Anchor Bar on Saturday’s beginning at 8pm.

See pianist George Jones with bassist Bill Stiebel and drummer John Bacon, Jr. at Oliver’s every Saturday beginning at 8 pm.

A reminder that the Joe Baudo Big Band performs every Tuesday at the Sportsmen Tavern from 12 pm to 2 pm.

Gypsy jazz jamDave Pinchoff and Einat Agmon will be hosting a Gypsy Jazz Jam every last Wednesday of the month.  First one kicks off February 24th
