After a great start in May with Phil DiRe and Friends, the JazzBuffalo / 189 Public House Sunday Jazz Series resumes on Sunday, June 26 at 6 pm at 189 Public House in East Aurora, NY. Next up is The Hard Bop Project!
The Hard Bop Project is spearheaded by saxophonist Kelly Bucheger in collaboration with myself (Tony Zambito). The collaboration comes out of our passionate liking for the music produced through collaborative efforts of alto sax great Lou Donaldson and percussionist Ray Barretto in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. Arranging such great songs as Blues Walk, Gravy Train, and more.
On this date, we have Kelly Bucheger on sax, Tom Paladino on keyboards, Sabu Adeyola on bass, Abdul-Rahman Qadir on drums, myself on percussion, and special guest Tim Clarke joining us on trumpet. It is sure to be another jazz bluesy event to follow the band’s debut in April.
Here is the famous Lou Donaldson version of Blues Walk you will most certainly groove to:
Look for further outstanding jazz throughout the series as we welcome:
Jon Lehning’s Got A Match? Band in July
The Devin Kelly Trio in August
Winelight in September
The Midnight Blue Experience in October
The Hot Club of Buffalo in November
Janice Mitchell and Jim Beishline in December
Truly a diverse line-up with jazz for everyone. Many thanks to Clark Crook and the staff at 189 Public House for their hosting of this series, now in its second year. Be sure to visit 189 Public House for excellent foods and homegrown drinks (189 Whiskey and beer made right here!).
Keep Jazz Alive in WNY!!
