This weekend brings us jazz through two festivals, the Lewiston Jazz Festival and the Elmwood Arts Festival. It will be the most concentrated day of jazz in one day! The weather is forecasted to be one beautiful day on Saturday, August 27th – so get outdoors to enjoy jazz!
The Lewiston Jazz Festival, Friday, August 26 and Saturday, August 27, Town of Lewiston
This 15th annual Lewiston Jazz Festival will feature 5 stages, bringing you the best in local and regional jazz talent from the Greater Buffalo area. Friday evening will feature headliner Molly Johnson. The Juno-nominated performer will certainly put on an entertaining show. On Saturday, the headline is jazz vocalist Curtis Stiger, who brings a contemporary sound to the stage. There will also be jazz After Hours in some of the pubs and restaurants throughout the town of Lewiston. Paul Marino, Saturday, August 27th at 4 pm and 8 pm at MusicalFare Theatre Premier Cabaret Lounge
The rising jazz vocalist Paul Marinaro returns to the MusicalFare Premier Cabaret Lounge for two shows. Fresh from a singing tribute to Sinatra in Chicago, Marinaro will surely make these shows as memorable as those he performed last year. Paul is scheduled to appear at the famed Birdland in New York City this fall. JazzBuffalo and MusicalFare are excited to present Paul Marinaro in this special weekend of jazz in WNY!

The Elmwood Arts Festival has grown each and every year and amongst its multiple performance areas, you will find jazz. Groups that are scheduled to appear include The Hot Club of Buffalo, Sol Y Sombra, Serendipity Swing, Gruvology, and Why Not? On Sunday, August 28th at 6 pm at the Historic Colored Musicians Club see the young and promising Jacob Jay Quintet with Jacob Jay- Trumpet, Dalton Sharp- Alto Sax, Jake Malone-Brancato-Keys, Zack Steinberg-Bass, and Stephen Lattimore-Drums
On Saturday, August 27th at Hot Mama’s Canteen beginning at 1 pm through 10 pm you can see a full day of jazz with Paul Sottnik, Andrew Nixon, Jules and the Vibratones, and the Luke Ciminelli Quintet

See pianist George Jones with bassist Bill Stiebel and drummer John Bacon, Jr. at Oliver’s every Saturday beginning at 8 pm.
On Tuesdays at 727 Elmwood (formerly Blue Monk), guitarist Adam Bronstein leads a trio for live jazz beginning at 7:30 pm with Anthony Henry on bass and Alec Dube on drums
On the first and third Wednesday of every month, at Mason’s Grille in Hamburg at 7:30 pm, you can catch the Frank Gerard and Ray Chamberlain Group with vocalist Cheryl Ferris.
A reminder that the Joe Baudo Big Band performs every Tuesday at the Sportsmen Tavern from 12 pm to 2 pm. And, the Joe Baudo Organ-based group performs on Wednesday between 12 pm and 2 pm.
Don’t forget the Historic Colored Musicians Club has open rehearsals on Mondays with George Scott Big Band and on Thursdays with the Carol McLaughlin Big Band. Sundays typically have a performance at 6 pm followed by jazz jam at 7 pm.
The next JazzBuffalo and Hollow Bistro Jazz Brunch on Saturday, September 10th will feature Jim Bohm on trumpet and David Calire on keyboards and vocals. Be sure to get your reservations in as Jim Bohm returns to Clarence!
On Saturday, September 10th at 8 pm at Pausa Art House make plans as JazzBuffalo presents the Midnight Blue Experience. The band focuses on the music of Kenny Burrell, particularly that of the Blue Note Sound embodied by the famous Midnight Blue album. The band features George Kane on guitar, Dave Schiavone on sax, Wayne Moose on bass, Devin Kelly on drums, and Tony Zambito on percussion.
The new JazzBuffalo and Road Less Traveled Productions Jazz Series kicks-off on Wednesday, September 14th at 7 pm at the theaters’ location on 500 Pearl Street. The series opens with Phil DiRe and Friends with Phil DiRe, Bobby Militello, Bobby Jones, Jim Colemon, and Louie Marino. The series in September with feature the Greg Millar Quartet on September 21st and The Mary McMahon Project with Dave Schiavone on September 28th
