It is hard to believe the beautiful summer we have had will wind down soon. Bringing into view football, harvest, pumpkins, and the holidays of Halloween and Thanksgiving associated with the fall season. And, this fall season brings an abundance of jazz presented to you by JazzBufalo and the supportive partners of JazzBuffalo in our community.
Through these fabulous partners and venues, JazzBuffalo has created jazz series that will bring a variety of jazz, via 22 performances, to the general public throughout all of Western New York. Presented on different days throughout each month, you will be able to see and hear the some of the best jazz artists and performers in town.
Here is a rundown of JazzBuffalo Jazz Series you can expect to see throughout the fall:
The JazzBuffalo and 189 Public House Sunday Jazz Series
This series is in its second year and has created some very memorable moments of jazz. The series, which runs April through December and starts at 6 pm on the 3rd Sunday of each month, has great performances in store as follows:
September 18: Winelight with Jim Bohm, Ken Whitman, Dave Calire and Jerry Livingston
October 16: The Midnight Blue Experience with George Kane, Dave Schiavone, Wayne Moose, Devin Kelly, and Tony Zambito
November 21: the superlative gypsy jazz of The Hot Club of Buffalo
December 18: Janice Mitchell and Jim Beishline take the stage

The JazzBuffalo and Hollow Bistro and Brew First Saturday Jazz Brunch
This series kicked off this summer and has been overwhelmingly received with sold-out reservations. The series takes place on the first Saturday of each month from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Here is what you should make reservations for:
September 10: The Winelight Duo with Jim Bohm and David Calire
October 1: Katy Miner Duo with Katy Miner and Warren Stirtzinger
November 5: Jazzline with Dennis Michael Warne and Jennie Jones
December 3: Custode and Parisi Duo with Lewis Custode and Steve Parisi

JazzBufalo and MusicalFare Theatre Premier Cabaret Lounge
JazzBuffalo and MusicalFare Theatre have partnered for truly memorable events during the past two years. Most recently, the presentation of the Buffalo native and Chicago-based jazz vocalist Paul Marinaro to a sold-out house. One event is planned in the fall. Look for more news coming in the future for events in the Premier Cabaret Lounge:

JazzBuffalo and Road Less Traveled Productions Jazz Series
This exciting new series launches in September and is designed to bring jazz back to the theatre district of downtown Buffalo. Taking place on 7 Wednesdays this fall (and 9 Wednesdays next spring), you will be able to see a super line-up of varietal jazz from 7 pm to 9 pm in the beautiful lobby at the theatre’s location on 500 Pearl Street in downtown Buffalo:
September 14: The series kicks off with the all-star line-up of Phil DiRe, Bobby Militello, Bobby Jones, Jim Colemon, and Louie Marino
September 21: see the Greg Millar Quartet, the former Charles Earland guitarist leads a group featuring Ron Peterson on the real B3 Hammond organ, Rey Scott (formerly Sun Ra) on sax, and Abdul-Rahman Qadir on drums
September 28: The Mary McMahon Project, which will feature 2014 JazzBuffalo Female Vocalist winner Mary McMahon along with Dave Schiavone, Lisa Hasselback, Wayne Moose, Rick Strauss, Tom Kasperek, and Tony Zambito
November 2: Mark Marinaccio and Friends provides a 9-piece band performing a fusion of jazz, funk, and pop of all originals you won’t want to miss
November 9: the fantastic jazz vocalist Cindy Miller from Rochester, who performed at this year’s Buffalo News Albright-Knox Summer Jazz Series and at the Lewiston Jazz Festival, brings her jazz vocalese styling with Wayne Moose on bass
November 16: Carina and the Six String Preacher have built quite the following of their special brand of jazz noir arrangements, which features Carina and Vincent Mastrantonio
December 7: The Hard Bob Project will deliver Kelly Bucheger arranged classic hard bop and soul jazz from the music of Lou Donaldson, Gene Ammons, and others. The band will feature Kelly Bucheger, Tim Clarke, Lisa Hasselback, and others.
December 14: John Bacon, Jr. and Jazz Current closes out the fall portion of this series with John Bacon, Jr. originals and arranged tunes featuring some of our brightest young jazz artists in Danny Ziemann, Alec Dube, Jared Tinkham , Brian Tervo, and Alex McArthur.

JazzBuffalo In Association With Pausa Art House
JazzBuffalo is pleased to present special concept performances at Pausa Art House. These concepts will feature special tributes with a focused on jazz education and awareness. Pausa is located in Allentown on 19 Wadsworth and all performances start 8 pm. The fall performances include:
September 10: The Midnight Blue Experience will focus on the music and legacy of jazz guitarist Kenny Burrell. Named after the famous Blue Note album, the group will feature George Kane, Dave Schiavone, Wayne Moose, Devin Kelly, and Tony Zambito.
September 30: This presentation, entitled Sky Dive – The Freddie Hubbard CTI Years, will focus on the period surrounding Freddie Hubbard’s recording with the CTI record label and such tunes as Red Clay, First Light, and Little Sunflower. The Freddie Hubbard CTI Experience group will feature Dave Schiavone, Rick Strauss, John Hasselback, Jr., Harry Graser, Jack Kulp, Tony Zambito, and John Bacon, Jr.
October 1: A presentation titled Red Mambo – A Tribute To Red Garland will focus on the legacy of the jazz pianist Red Garland, as well as, his collaboration with percussionist Ray Barretto. This group will feature and shine a special spotlight on Doug “Trigger” Gaston on piano, Sabu Adeyola on bass, Abdul-Rahman Qadir on drums, and Tony Zambito on percussion.
November 5: The Grant Street Sessions will focus on a tribute honoring the legacy of the unique sounds of jazz guitarist Grant Green. From jazz soul to funky jazz to Latin, Grant Green produced a catalogue of albums still relevant today. The group will feature George Kane, Lisa Hasselback, Wayne Moose, Devin Kelly, and Tony Zambito.
December 3: JazzBuffalo once again will present Doug “Trigger” Gaston with a focus on the music of Red Garland.
