JazzBuffalo presents: Sky Dive – Freddie Hubbard The CTI Years, Friday, January 27 at 8 pm at Pausa Art House
This 2nd-time only special event will once again focus on the years when the iconic songs First Light, Sky Dive, Red Clay, Little Sunflower, and etc. were produced. Recapturing the jazz and fusion blend that was groundbreaking in the 1970’s and yet still relevant today. Featured will be the CTI Experience group - Tim Clarke, Dave Schiavone, Rick Strauss, John Hasselback, Jr., Harry Graser, Rishon Odel Northington, John Bacon, Jr. and Tony Zambito. A group stacked with 2017 JazzBuffalo Poll winners. Mary Halverson Reverse Blues, Sunday, January 29 at 3 pm at the AKG Art of Jazz Series
Jazz guitarist Mary Halverson comes from the jazz lineage of Anthony Braxton, the free jazz, improvisational, and avant-garde jazz master. Her music has been characterized as adventurous and a journey towards expanding the boundaries of free and avant-garde jazz. The band will feature will feature Halvorson (guitar), Chris Speed (sax/clarinet), Elvind Opsvik (bass), and Tomas Fujiwara (drums). A Tribute to Modern Jazz Quartet, Saturday, January 28 at 8 pm at Pausa Art House
A young quartet of musicians, led by vibraphonist Alec Dube, will pay tribute to the iconic jazz group the Modern Jazz Quartet. The group which featured Milt Jackson produced an impressive body of work influenced by modalities incorporating bebop, cool jazz, classical, and swing. The quartet will feature 2017 JazzBuffalo Poll Vibes winner Alec Dube, Alec Dube – vibes, Harry Graser – piano, Kieran Hanlon – bass, and Eric Metzger – drums.
JazzBuffalo and 189 Sunday Jazz Series Presents: Walt Sopicki’s Rust Belt Trio. Sunday, January 29 at 6 pm at 189 Public House
Walt Sopicki is one of the area’s finest guitarist with a groove sound. See this trio featuring Walt Sopicki on guitar, Ron Peterson on the Hammond B3 organ, Abdul Rahman Qadir on drums, and sitting in as special guest Tony Zambito on percussion. For guitar and organ groove enthusiast, a real treat. No football playoffs this weekend so an opportune time to take a break and enjoy the fine foods and drinks at 189 – plus great grooving jazz.
Jazz In Town
On Thursday, January 26 at 7 pm at Pausa Art House, Star People: The Miles Davis Project appears again. A different look this time with others sitting in with Elliot Scozzaro on alto sax, Andy Weinzler on tenor sax, Mike Kaupa on trumpet, Bobby Jones on piano, Danny Ziemann on bass, and John Bacon on drums.
On Friday, January 27 at 7:30 pm at the Roycroft Inn in East Aurora catch the Hot Club of Buffalo, the gypsy jazz swinging group featuring Josh Assad, Kevin O'Brien, EJ Koepell, and Dean Gionis
On Friday, January 27 at 10 pm at the Twilight Room the jazz funk fusion band Winelight will perform with Jim Bohm, Ken Witman, David Calire, Tim Webb and Paul Yates.

On Saturday, February 4th at 11:30 am, make reservations to see the guitar duo of George Kane and John Murphy at the JazzBuffalo and Hollow Bistro First Saturday Jazz Brunch. Great brunch menu accompanied by great jazz!
On Friday, February 3rd and Saturday, February 4th, the Floyd Fried All City Jazz Festival consisting of high school jazz ensembles, an all-city high school ensemble, and rehearsals with area jazz musicians will take place at Hutch Tech High School.
The JazzBuffalo Jazz At The Meeting House Series in February will have the duo of Vibraphonist Alec Dube and Harry Graser on Tuesday, February 7th and Maria Sebastian with Ron Davis and Friends on Tuesday, February 21st.
In February, Pausa Art House will have Rick Strauss For Peace Quartet, Einat Agmon, Rick Holland, Elliott Scozzaro, Jacob Jay Quintet, My Cousin Tone', Nick Finzer CD Release, and Ron Peterson.

This coming April will be another year of Jazz Appreciation Month and International Jazz Day. JazzBuffalo will be partnering with Pausa Art House to host a series of 5 Saturday concerts in April to celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month. Stay tuned for more details!
After a limited run this past fall, the JazzBuffalo and Road Less Traveled Jazz Series will undergo a revision. Wednesdays proved to be a tough night when other theater shows were going on. Affecting parking and etc. However, musicians and audiences marveled about the acoustic at this spectacular venue - both for listening and performing. We will be switching to Monday nights with a focused on a Jazz Composers Workshop Series. Offering an opportunity for talented jazz artists to present original works. Stay tuned for more details!
