For Peace Quartet, Saturday, February 4th at 8 pm at Pausa Art House
This inventive group, led by jazz guitarist, composer, and arranger Rick Strauss will feature Rick Strauss on guitar, Lisa Hasselback on piano, Jim Colemon on bass, and Abdul-Rahman Qadir on drums. Rick Strauss has recorded for the Projazz label and is long remembered for his association with Spyro Gyra.

On Friday, February 3rd at 9 pm at the 31 Club catch My Cousin Tone’ with Jim Matteliano, Bill Savino, Tim Martin, Bill Basil, Andy Peruzzini, Pete Dauphin, Tony Zambito, and Mary McMahon
On Saturday, February 4th at 11:30 am, attend the JazzBuffalo and Hollow Bistro First Saturday Jazz Brunch, which will feature the guitar duo of George Kane and John Murphy
On Saturday, February 4th at 1 pm stop by Hutchinson Central Technical High School for the Floyd Fried All City Jazz Festival featuring high school jazz bands/ensembles and an all city version as well.
On Saturday, February 4th at 8 pm at Shakti Yoga catch the Hot Club of Buffalo for some of the best gypsy jazz around.
On Tuesday, February 7th at 7 pm the JazzBuffalo Series Jazz At The Meeting House presents the duo of Pianist Harry Graser and Vibraphonist Alec Due in an intimate concert. For fans of the Chick Corea/Gary Burton duo style of piano and vibes, a must see!
On Wednesday, February 8th at 7 pm, see jazz vocalist Einat Agmon at Pausa Art House as part of the singer series.
Jazz Meets Theatre
MusicalFare Theatre produces the musical Sophisticated Ladies this month, a salute to the legacy of Duke Ellington. The show will feature the musical direction of George Caldwell and the band will consist of Tim Clarke, John Hasselback, Jr., Bobby Militello, and others. And, in the cast will be jazz singer Katy Miner. The show will feature a stellar cast of singers, actors, and dancers under the direction of John Fredo. Runs through March 5th. The JazzBuffalo Jazz At The Meeting House Series will have Maria Sebastian with Ron Davis and Friends on Tuesday, February 21st.
On Sunday, February 12 at 2 pm Niagara Falls native and pianist Pete Malinverni returns to the area to perform at the Buffalo History Museum.

This coming April will be another year of Jazz Appreciation Month and International Jazz Day. JazzBuffalo will be partnering with Pausa Art House to host a series of 5 Saturday concerts in April to celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month. Look for a musical focus on a CD revival, honoring the legacy of Charles Mingus, and an homage to Erroll Garner. Stay tuned for more details!
