The Hot Club of Buffalo, Saturday, September 16 at 8 pm at Pausa Art House
Buffalo’s premier gypsy jazz band returns to Pausa Art House. Fresh from their performance at the Northwest Jazz Festival, the band offers gypsy jazz in the true spirit of Django Rheinhardt. Performing an exotic mix of jazz in the European tradition. The Hot Club of Buffalo features Dean Gionis – guitar, Joshua Assad – guitar, Kevin O’Brien – bass, and E.J. Koeppel – violin.
Bobby Militello Quartet, Thursday, September 14 at 7 pm at Carnegie Arts Center
The Carnegie Arts Center begin their Thursday Jazz Series for this fall with Buffalo’s ambassador to jazz, alto saxophonist Bobby Militello and his quartet of Bobby Jones on the keyboard, Jim Colemon on bass, and John Bacon, Jr on drums. A chance to see the alumni saxophonist of Dave Brubeck and Maynard Ferguson.
Jazz In Town
On Thursday, September 14th catch the Hip Notes Jazz Quintet play the music of the Beatles with a twist at 7 pm at Pausa Art House. Features Russ Carere – alto sax, Matt Harris – tenor sax, Jared Tinkham – guitar, Anthony Henry – bass, Alec Dube – drums and special guest, Nicki Peets – vocals.
On Friday, September 15th at 6 pm you can see Custode and Parisi at The Como Restaurant in Niagara Falls
On Friday, September 16th at Pausa Art House, see the monthly appearance of Star People: Music of Miles Davis usually led by George Caldwell and John Bacon and featuring guest jazz musicians.
On Monday, September 18th at 8 pm check out the Buffalo Jazz Composers Workshop at the Back Room of Allen Street Hardware.

On September 21 to 23rd, the Pappy Martin Legacy Jazz Society is planning 3 days of events celebrating the 91st birthday of John Coltrane at the Burchfield Penney Museum. Special guests scheduled to appear are saxophonist J.D. Allen, bassist Curtis Lundy, Sirius XM's Eulis Cathey, and a special appearance interview with jazz legend Jimmy Heath. On September 29th, Jazz At The Lincoln Center Orchestra With Wynton Marsalis will be at the UB Center for the Arts. Be sure to visit the UB Center For the Arts Website for tickets for this event – here: JLCO.

JazzBuffalo Presents The Hotel Henry Jazz Concert Series
What a spectacular night September 13th proved to be with an outstanding performance by the Fredtown Stompers. On Wednesday, October 11th the next concert in the Hotel Henry Jazz Concert Series produced by JazzBuffalo will feature the jazz legend Eric Johnson who performed with Lou Donaldson, Jack McDuff, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Jimmy Smith, and more. JazzBuffalo Presents International Jazz Artists
In the fall on Saturday, October 21, JazzBuffalo will be presenting, in association with Pausa Art House, the Julliard, New York City-based, and highly-regarded Grammy Nominee jazz pianist Elio Villafranca. Joining Villafranca as special guest will be the heavily touted Brownman Ali on trumpet, whose forays into jazz and hip-hop are well documented. The ensemble will also feature Sabu Adeyola on bass and Sean Jefferson on drums with an exciting appearance by the Cuban-born percussionist Vladimir Espinosa. This concert will be a special part of the Jazz 100 Festival to be held October 19, 20, and 21 with a special tribute to Dizzy Gillespie. Get your reserved seats here: Elio Villafranca
JazzBuffalo, in association with MusicalFare Theatre, will present one of the most iconic jazz legends in jazz history, alto saxophone great Richie Cole, will make an appearance at MusicalFare Theatre on Saturday, October 28th. Presented by JazzBuffalo, the dynamic The Amos Hoffman/Noam Lemish Quartet will be making a rare appearance in Buffalo on Sunday, November 26 at Pausa Art House for two shows at 3 pm and 6 pm. In 2013 Amos Hoffman was awarded one of Israel’s most prestigious prizes – The Landau Prize for Arts and Sciences for outstanding achievement in the field of Jazz. The quartet performs unique jazz arrangements of traditional Israeli and Jewish songs with Hoffman n the traditional Oud. In addition, they perform hard swing jazz music. Jazz 100 Festival
In October, JazzBuffalo and Pausa Art House will team to host the Jazz 100 Festival running on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 10/19 to 10/2. The festival will celebrate the 100th birthdays of Ella Fitzgerald, Thelonious Monk, and Dizzy Gillespie. Stay tuned for more details. On Thursday 10/19, the Mary McMahon Project will do a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald, Friday 10/20 Star People will shift focus from Miles Davis and do a special tribute to Thelonious Monk, and on Saturday the above-mentioned appearance by Elio Villafranca will conclude the festival with a tribute to Dizzy Gillespie and Mongo Santamaria.
Albright-Knox Art Gallery Announces Art Of Jazz Lineup
Posted recently was the announcement of the 2017/2018 Art of Jazz Series at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery. The announcement is viewable here: Art of Jazz. The series welcomes back the founding producer Bruce Eaton this coming season. It will be a privilege and honor to be stepping in as series associate producer to assist in producing Art of Jazz and bringing to Buffalo the best in jazz.
