The traditional start of summer activities begins with Memorial Day weekend. It is also a time to remember the many who sacrificed their lives for our country. On this holiday weekend, Buffalo gets visits from the north and from the south. Spicing up the music of jazz! From the north, we get a visit from one of the most promising and energizing groups in North American jazz, The B’s Bees. From the south, we get a visit from the long-time New Orleans vocalist, Leif Pedersen.
B’s Bees bring to Buffalo and Pausa Art House not one, but two new albums for 2018. The first is a tribute to the great Charlie Haden and aptly titled “Dear Charlie”, has been selling strongly since it’s Jan. 2018 release, and reached #4 on iTunes Canada’s Jazz Charts. Leif Pedersen hails from New Orleans and lives in Slidell, LA. He has been a big band singer for almost 40 years and spent a half dozen of those years as the featured vocalist with Buddy Morrow’s Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. Leif is a former Marine and a member of Southeastern Louisiana University’s Music Hall of Fame. Pedersen has spent a quarter of a century singing with his 14-piece, 1944 Big Band in New Orleans.
