“The best part of an open jazz session is when the energy explodes as each musician is inspired by his fellow musicians. The exhibition explores art that is inspired by the spirit of jazz.” – Tim Brooks, founder of Expo68 Art & Design
The four scheduled jazz performances will take place during the opening reception on Saturday, October 6 and on 3 consecutive Thursdays in October from 7 pm to 9 pm. The jazz artists will consist of the Lance Tanner Duo on October 6, Greg Millar Quartet on October 11, Tim Clarke Soul-Tet on October 18, and The Hot Club of Buffalo on October 25.
The title of the exhibit, “Spontaneous Combustion”, is inspired by the title of an album released by the late great jazz artist, Cannonball Adderley, in 1955. Evoking the spirit of when art meets jazz.
The series is designed to fuse music and art to highlight multiple-perspectives by artists, and the talented musicians, that are creating a vibrant art and cultural scene in Greater Buffalo.
“The merging of art and jazz brings out the best in Buffalo. Artists from two artistic fields inspiring each other to create fascinating art for the community. They are creating an artistic voice that speaks to community and social issues. Expo68 is a unique art and design gallery and a great harbinger of things to come for the new planned town center.” – Tony Zambito, founder of JazzBuffalo
