The concert performance of “Drea Sings Nina” was a most special community-building art & cultural event that filled us all with emotions and connections to each other. Rhapsody by Bobby Previte
Commissioned by the 2015 Greenfield Prize in Music, RHAPSODY is an acoustic, evening-length song cycle on the subject of travel and migration. This star-studded band features John Medeski on piano, Nels Cline on acoustic guitars, Zeena Parkins on harp, Jen Shyu on vocals and erhu, Fabian Rucker -on saxophone, and Bobby Previte on trap drums, autoharp, and harmonica. On Friday, October 12, we get to introduce two artists and welcome back organ extraordinaire Dino Losito. You may recall Dino was the organist for the fantastic concert performances that took place with the Jerry Weldon Quartet this past summer.

Guitarist Greg Chako has played with top artists like Junior Cook, Bill Hardman, Othello Molineaux, Johnny Lytle, Bobby Watson, Herb Ellis, Jimmy Raney, and others. His first CD ‘Everything I Love’ was recorded in Hong Kong in 1994. Two out of four subsequent CDs, Integration and Integration II were reissued as a set in 2015. Vince Lewis, who wrote for Just Jazz Guitar, said the music “… transcends geographic boundaries and cultures and communicates the happiness and friendship that all music should provide…”…
Perhaps not entirely jazz being performed here, nevertheless an important event for the community. This event supports Female Musicians Fighting Cancer and raises funds to benefit Roswell Park Breast Cancer research.
