We have come to the end of one of the best years in jazz in Greater Buffalo in a long time. New Year’s Eve hits this weekend. When the classic song “What Are Doing New Year’s Eve?” comes up on the radio or playlist, you will be able to answer with a few jazzy events.
The song, written and released in 1947 by Frank Loesser, was originally written for Margaret Whiting with the Frank De Vol Orchestra. It became part of American holiday tradition when Ella Fitzgerald turned it into a hit in 1960:
