The Northwest Jazz Festival in Historic Lewiston, NY announces the lineup of Main Stage Headliner performers for 2019. The Jazz Festival, scheduled on Friday, August 23rd and Saturday, August 24th will present top international and North American jazz artists including Monty Alexander, Roberta Gambarini, Mike Jones, Carol Welsman, Nicki Parrot, Aimée Allen, and Lucia Jackson.
The lineup represents an ambitious presentation of jazz artists at the Main Stage in the 18 years of the annual festival’s history. The lineup is curated by Music Director, Tony Zambito.
“We’re all very excited about the lineup for this year’s festival. The Main Stage and Headliner jazz artists represent legends, Grammy and Juno nominees, and up and coming dynamic artists,” states Tony Zambito. “To be able to present a legend of jazz in Monty Alexander and his Harlem-Kingston Express is an enormous development for the festival. In addition, the appearance by one of the most dynamic headlining jazz vocalists in jazz today, Roberta Gambarini, will be a not-to-miss event. On top of these two international stars, we have such special performers as pianist Mike Jones from Penn & Teller fame in Las Vegas, six-time Juno Awards nominee pianist/vocalist Carol Welsman with the award-winning bassist/vocalist Nick Parrot. Opening up the Saturday portion of the festival are two very gifted up and coming jazz vocalists today, based in New York City, Aimée Allen and Lucia Jackson.”
The Main Stage lineup for 2019 is as follows:
Friday, August 23rd
- Penn & Teller pianist Mike Jones presents “The Show Before The Show”
- Two times Grammy Nominee, Jazz Vocalist Roberta Gambarini
Saturday, August 24th
- Jazz Vocalist and Alvin Ailey dancer, Lucia Jackson with jazz guitarist Ron Jackson
- Jazz Vocalist Aimée Allen presents her highly-acclaimed Wings Uncaged music album
- Six-time Juno Award Nominee Jazz vocalist and pianist Carol Welsman with the award-winning bassist and vocalist Nicki Parrott

Each year, the festival relies on its signature Taste of Jazz Fundraiser to remain the largest free jazz festival in the region. “The festival has grown to be the largest of its kind in the region. Our board of directors and staff work year round to present the best in jazz music and while keeping the event primarily free. Our annual fundraiser is one of the important ways we raise money to produce the festival and to be able to bring in such jazz artists as Monty Alexander,” says George Osborne, President and Chairman of the Jazz Festival.
The Taste of Jazz Fundraiser will be held on Sunday, March 31st from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Brickyard Brewery in Lewiston, NY. The event will feature the 8-piece jazz ensemble My Cousin Toné, with guest jazz vocalists Mary McMahon, DeeAnn DiMeo Tompkins, Carolyn Lansom, and Zach Carr. Tickets for the fundraiser are available on Eventbrite here: Taste of Jazz Fundraiser
Patrons are encouraged to purchase tickets even if they are unable to attend the Taste of Jazz event to help contribute to the fundraising undertaken by the festival.
