To keep the largest jazz festival in the region free, the Northwest Jazz Festival in Historic Lewiston, NY holds its annual “Taste of Jazz” fundraiser. This year, the fundraiser will be held on Sunday, March 31, at the Brickyard Brewing Co., 436 Center St. Relying on the generous fundraiser ticket purchasers to help defray the substantial costs for producing the free, two-day outdoor jazz festival.
The festival schedules 30 performances on five stages. Including many local musicians. New this year is a special dedication to guitarist Ralph Fava. The DiCamillo Courtyard stage will feature jazz guitar duos to honor Fava’s contributions to jazz and to the community as the long-time proprietor of Lockport Music Center. Fava died in October of 2018 after a lengthy illness.
The fundraiser will feature local musicians donating their talent for the event. Including:

- The eight-piece ensemble My Cousin Toné will serve as host band at the fundraiser, performing an intricately arranged jazz ensemble repertoire of jazz standards and classic straight-ahead jazz. - The My Cousin Tone Jazz Ensemble will feature several singers to include: Mary McMahon, previous winner for JazzBuffalo Poll Female Vocalist of the Year; DeeAnn DiMeo Tompkins, winner in this year’s JazzBuffalo Poll for Best CD/EP Release for “Stay Here” and nominee for JazzBuffalo Poll Female Vocalist of the Year; and Zach Carr, winner of the JazzBuffalo Poll Male Vocalist of the Year for two straight years.
