On this day in 1963, the great modal-style jazz pianist, Horace Silver, released a signature song for the ages. “Silver’s Serenade” was released on Blue Note Records and is forever identified as a Horace Silver anthem song. The song featured Horace Silver – Piano, Blue Mitchell – Trumpet, Junior Cook – Tenor Sax, Gene Taylor – Bass, and Roy Brooks – Drums. This ensemble was formed in 1959 and this recording turned out to be the last recording of this ensemble together.
