We were very fortunate to be blessed by two perfect summer evenings of beautiful skies, moderate temperatures, and low humidity. Setting the stage to enjoy two very different styles of jazz against the picturesque background of the iconic cultural location on the south side of the Hotel Henry.
On Thursday (August 6), the Grammy-Nominated trio, Paradigm Shift, gave us a riveting evening of organ trio jazz. Gerry Youngman, Melvin Henderson, and Sean Jefferson putting on display their syncopated chemistry. Sharing with us original tunes that had the audience toe-tapping and enthralled.
Friday (August 7) produced a magical evening. The Hotel Henry and Richardson Towers providing a setting that had people transporting to European thoughts and imagery. The French ConéXion offered up their unique French Jazz in a mixture of classical, gypsy jazz, tango, and more with originality met with rounds of applause. Several of the songs were poignant and deeply personal to the stellar quartet of Marc Cousins (bass), Alex Cousins (cello), Bernard Kunz (guitar), and Jeremy Spindler (accordion).
Making the sound exhilaratingly clear and enjoyable was JazzBuffalo contributor, Mark Percy.
Our resident JazzBuffalo contributor and photographer extraordinaire, Jack Zuff, was on hand both evenings to capture two truly magical evenings. Below, are two captivating galleries by Jack.
Let us hope we can keep the magic of this unique JazzBuffalo and Hotel Henry partnership happening in these challenging times.
