Jazz In Town: August Days Of Jazz

(Photo: This month we celebrate the 100th birthday of Charlie “Bird” Parker.  From left, Tommy Potter, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie and John Coltrane at Birdland, the New York nightclub named after Parker, in 1951.)

This summer, we have enjoyed fabulous jazz at the Hotel Henry Summer Jazz Series, Jazz at Chandlerville, and in other locales also.  Experiencing jazz during the pandemic has not come without challenges and careful considerations.  At JazzBuffalo, we have believed in partnering and offering uplifting experiences for the community during the pandemic.  We are doing our best to make sure ultimate safety is provided in outdoor settings.  We have appreciated your cooperation to date and support for the “Keep Local Live Jazz Music Alive” Fund.

In light of additional New York State guidelines on restricting advertised ticketed and cover-charge events and music being performed in a non-dining setting, the fund becomes even more important to enable us to provide opportunities to jazz musicians hurt by such restrictions.

The Jazz at Chandlerville and Hotel Henry Summer Jazz Series will continue as music contributing to the entire experience being offered by Thin Man Brewery/Tappo Pizza and the 100 Acres Kitchens at Hotel Henry.  Continuing will give more importance to adhering to the six-feet apart and mask-wearing guidelines.
