Remembering Juini Booth

We sadly are learning of the passing of another jazz legend with roots in Buffalo. The legendary bassist Juini Booth has died at the age of 73 after apparent health struggles. Booth’s legendary status in jazz dates back to his 1960s dates with Eddie Harris and Art Blakely. Also performing with Gary Bartz, Freddy Hubbard, and Shelly Manne. In the mid-1970s, Booth was an integral part of McCoy Tyner’s recordings and performances. In his later years, Booth returned to Buffalo more frequently and engaged in performing in the free jazz movement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. (photo by Jack Zuff)
