Pappy Martin Legacy – Masten Jazz Festival Brings Rising Stars and Jazz Legends To Buffalo

The 26th Annual Pappy Martin Legacy – Masten Jazz Festival will bring a notable roster of rising stars and jazz legends. Several are an integral part of modern jazz history. And some are seeing their stars ascending at an accelerated rate.

The festival will welcome jazz luminaries Nat Reeves, Eddie Henderson, Curtis Lundy, Russell Malone, Orrin Evans, and Warren Wolf. While showcasing rising stars such as Stacy Dillard and Brandee Younger. Offering the Buffalo community to see and hear a collective of some of the most gifted jazz artists in the world of jazz today.

Ron Carter

The headliner of the day will be the legendary bassists Ron Carter and his trio. Carter’s placed in jazz history was cemented when he became the bassist for the second Miles Davis Quintet. Establishing a career as the most recorded bassist in jazz history.

Below is the full schedule of performances to take place on Sunday, July 25 beginning at 3 pm with the faculty and students of the Love Supreme School of Music.

The momentous day will take place at the side lawn of the Buffalo Science Museum and is open to the public. Bring your own lawn chairs and coolers as well as support any of the local vendors who will be present.

SUNDAY, JULY 25:

3:00 pm –  Love Supreme School of Music

4:00 pm – NAT REEVES STATE OF EMERGENCY BAND: Featuring bassist extraordinaire, Nat Reeves; Eddie Henderson (trumpet), Rick Germanson (piano); Steve Davis (trombone); Eric McPherson (drums)

5:30 pm – CURTIS LUNDY UMOJA: Featuring world-renowned bassist, Curtis Lundy; Orrin Evans (piano); Warren Wolf (vibraphone); Stacy Dillard (saxophone); Brandee Younger (harp); Terreon Gully (drums)

7:00 pm – RON CARTER TRIO: Featuring the most recorded jazz bassist, Ron Carter; Russell Malone (guitar); Donald Vega (piano)
