As the summer began to wind down, Jason Davidson of the Terrace at Delaware Park started thinking about how to keep the enthusiastically engaged diners and brunch-goers happy with more entertainment. After almost two years of pandemic-related difficulties, it was a welcomed problem to think about. The Terrace and JazzBuffalo mulled over what to do. Jason echoed the thought “what people really seem to like is dinner and a show and I’ve always wanted to do that for them. It would be great to offer live music, cabaret, theater, and comedy in our beautiful Pan-Am room.”
One thing we knew we needed was a piano. JazzBuffalo went on the hunt for one. Lo and behold, a baby grand piano became available for purchase and the rest was underway. The “Dinner and a Show” program was sketched out and will be located in the beautiful Pan Am Room overlooking Hoyt Lake. Plans call for the build-out of a raised stage and the installing of the piano.
JazzBuffalo has enjoyed a nearly five-year partnership with the Terrace and could not be more excited to partner once again with “Jazz in the Pan Am Room” programming. The first event is scheduled for Friday, November 5th beginning at 6:30 pm with music starting at 7 pm. We will be bringing a special guest jazz artist to Buffalo to help us celebrate. Jazz vocalist, Ann Mitchell, who has earned accolades as one of the finest jazz vocalists in the Central Region of New York State and beyond, will perform this evening.
Ann Mitchell is no stranger to Rochester and the Central Region of New York State stretching to Syracuse and the Albany area. It’s about time she makes the trek down I-90 to Buffalo. Mitchell states, “I am really excited to perform in Buffalo. My husband is from there. And, I see all the exciting jazz that’s happening in Buffalo these days.”
Ann Mitchell has appeared in many settings throughout the Central Region of New York. Her extensive list of appearances have included: Jazz 90.1 LIVE On Air Concerts, KeyBank Rochester Fringe Festival, Corning Wine and Jazz Festival, The New York State Fair, Rochester Strong Museum’s Making American Music series, Canandaigua Waterfront festival, Fox Rochester’s Good Day Rochester, News 10 NBC – Today Show, Rochester’s Warm 101 FM – Tony and Dee in the Morning as well as numerous festivals, concerts and more.
What sets Ann Mitchell apart is her rich vocals of the timeless classics with unbeatable energy and heart. Ann Mitchell has garnered praise for her cultivated tribute shows that include tributes to Peggy Lee, Judy Garland, and “Fabulous Females” such as Patti Page and Doris Day. Most recently, Mitchell performed a highly regarded tribute show – The Songs of Burt Bacharach – at the Rochester Fringe Festival. Ann’s creative passion has been influenced by the many memorable women vocalists including those mentioned above and such as Ella Fitzgerald, June Christy, Diane Schur, Rosemary Clooney, and more.
Join the Terrace at Delaware Park and JazzBuffalo as we welcome this special guest artist to Buffalo. A memorable way to make the idea of a “Dinner and a Show” come to life and to experience “Jazz in the Pan Am Room” with the Ann Mitchell Jazz Trio.
