The 2022 64th Grammy Nominations were announced today. Including nominations in the Jazz Categories. Nominating categories for jazz music include categories for improvised jazz solo, jazz vocals, jazz instrumentals, jazz large ensemble, and Latin Jazz.
Nominations are reflective of recordings released between Sept. 1, 2020 — Sept. 30, 2021.).
John Batiste received 11 nominations, including Record of the Year as well as in several jazz and non-jazz categories. Achieving a crossover feat for a jazz artist. Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga recent duo album garnered plenty of attention from the voters also. The nominations include familiar names in jazz such as the late Chick Corea, Kurt Elling, Ron Carter, Kenny Barron, and others.
