This edition of Jazz in Town will be devoted to the largest free jazz festival in the region, the Northwest Jazz Festival in Historic Lewiston, NY.
After being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic for two straight years, the Northwest Jazz Festival returns this weekend. Finally getting a chance to celebrate the milestone of its 20th Anniversary. Hosting 6 headliner performers and a total of 30 performers and nearly 150 musicians in two days. And, more importantly, hosting upwards of 30-40,000 people who are estimated to visit the festival. Providing one of the most unique experiences of its kind in the northeast.

The Northwest Jazz Festival is proud to introduce dance once again to the Main Stage. The UB Zodiaque Dance Company, a resident dance company at the University of Buffalo, returns to the festival and will feature four dancers performing a choreographed jazz dance routine to the music of jazz. Awards
This year, the Jazz Ambassador Award will be given to Bruce Eaton in recognition of his life-long passion and dedication to promoting jazz in the region. Bruce was instrumental in hosting jazz concerts at Artpark in the 1990s and founding the esteemed Art of Jazz Series held at Albright-Knox Art Gallery and Kleinhans Music Hall.
Ryan Eckl of Lancaster, NY is the winner of the 2022 Carol Calato Jazz Scholarship. Ryan is a Music Education and Music Performance major at SUNY Potsdam, Crane School of Music. His main performance instrument is the French Horn and also plays the piano, steel drums, electric bass, guitar, and drum set.
