We ended the Summer of Jazz with our first-ever Buffalo Jazz Festival! Despite the threat of rain, gusty breezes, overcast skies, and cool temperatures, we had several hundred people join us for an afternoon of fabulous music. Most importantly, it was a time of our diverse community coming together as one, encouraging our next generation of jazz stars, and celebrating the renaissance of our great city – Buffalo! Many thanks to Seneca One, Douglas Development Corporation, and our sponsors Buffalo Rising and Kenton Hearing. It was great to receive support from 43North and Kleinhans Music Hall! And, we couldn’t have done it without the super sound engineering of Mark Percy and drums technician Bill Bates!
The Kenan Center’s monthly free concert series continues Saturday, September 10 from 6-8 p.m. with a tribute to the late musician Sara Rogers. Jazz musician Alex McArthur and vocalist Cortney Chyme who comprised the band GirlCrush+ with Rogers will play in her honor.
