An Exciting “Summer of Jazz” Kicks Off Memorial Day

The JazzBuffalo Third Annual Summer Of Jazz Set To Begin!

Get ready for the third edition of the eagerly-awaited “Summer of Jazz,” which starts on Memorial Day and culminates with the Buffalo Jazz Festival on Labor Day Weekend. JazzBuffalo’s “Summer of Jazz” is dedicated to making jazz more accessible to the community and bringing us all together. Additionally, it’s a chance for us to highlight the incredible talent we have here in Buffalo.

Jazz Music will be accessible throughout the city and at some of our city’s most iconic locations. Here is a brief overview of the events and series planned this summer:

JazzMondays at the Tappo Rooftop Patio

The festivities at the Tappo Restaurant Rooftop will return for its 7th season starting Memorial Day. Hosted by JazzBuffalo and My Cousin Toné with special guests, JazzMondays has become a summer tradition for many as birthdays, anniversaries, and reunions are celebrated each Monday throughout the summer.

JazzBrunch Sundays at the Terrace

Starting in mid-to-late May, the city’s longest-standing jazz brunch will now take place on the outdoor terrace and patio. This marks our 6th year hosting the event outside, with favorite duos and trios providing entertainment while guests enjoy the view overlooking Hoyt Lake at Delaware Park. Due to high demand, we highly recommend making reservations for this popular Sunday brunch.

Jazz at Chandlerville

It’s hard to believe that the jazz series at Tappo Pizza/Thin Man Brewery on Chandler Street is already celebrating its 5th year! The upcoming season will be extra special as it marks a return to the coveted alleyway/patio space where it all began. The series will begin on Thursday, June 15th with a performance by award-winning musician, Hannah PK.

Jazz on the Plaz!

Get ready for the third annual jazz music event at the west plaza of the Seneca One Tower this summer! Set to take place in July and August, the series is shifting back to Fridays much to the delight of many. Attendees can look forward to food trucks and exciting progress being made on the expansion of the Other Half Brewery. Stay tuned for further announcements about the schedule of jazz music performances.

Jazz at the Richardson

We are thrilled to announce that we will be returning to the Richardson-Olmsted Campus and the newly reopened hotel, The Richardson! Many in the JazzBuffalo Community have fond memories of the Wednesday jazz concerts at the Hotel Henry, and the concerts on the South Lawn of the Richardson-Olmsted Campus were a source of comfort during the pandemic. This summer JazzBuffalo and The Richardson Hotel will be hosting two concerts on the South Lawn on July 9th and August 6th. Keep an eye out for updates on the performers. These concerts will be a precursor to the Buffalo Jazz Festival and the revival of The Richardson Jazz Concert Series. Save the dates and join us for some fantastic music!

Buffalo Jazz Festival

Last year’s Buffalo Jazz Festival faced miserable weather conditions, but despite this, we still managed to draw a near-capacity crowd. This year, we are excited to announce that the festival will be held on the South Lawn of the Richardson-Olmsted Campus! The event will feature talented jazz performers from Buffalo and provide a family-friendly atmosphere for all to enjoy. Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 3rd, as the festival is scheduled to take place in the afternoon and early evening. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements!

Welcome to another season of “Summer of Jazz” presented by JazzBuffalo. Our goal is to create unity and bring the city of Buffalo together through the joy of jazz music. We are excited to share this summer with you and hope for plenty of sunshine and happy faces.
