JazzBuffalo to Revive the Spirit of Jazz and Community at the Historic Richardson Towers Campus

Welcome to the Return of Jazz to The Richardson-Olmsted Campus

During the pandemic, gathering at Richardson-Olmsted Park was a cherished memory for many in the JazzBuffalo Community. We often hear about fond experiences and the desire to relive the Jazz at Richardson events.

We’re thrilled to announce two special concerts on the south lawn of the park, sponsored by The Richardson Hotel Buffalo and the Douglas Development Corporation. And more great news! The Buffalo Jazz Festival will be held at Richardson now. After a long wait, the return to Richardson has finally arrived.

The Lindsey Holland Unit

Save the date! On July 9th at 2 pm, you can witness the exceptional talent of the next-generation jazz artists from the Lindsey Holland Unit. Led by jazz vocalist extraordinaire Lindsey Holland, this ensemble offers a unique and contemporary sound in the world of jazz. You’ll be entertained by John Troy on sax, 2022 JazzBuffalo winner Jared Tinkham on guitar, Griffith Kazmierczak on trumpet, JazzBuffalo winner Alec Dube on drums, and the multiple JazzBuffalo Poll winner, bassist Ed Croft. Don’t miss out on this exciting performance!

Wendell Rivera Latin Jazz Ensemble

Mark your calendars for August 6th at 4 pm! You won’t want to miss the incredible performance by Wendell Rivera Latin Jazz Ensemble, consistently voted as the region’s top Latin Jazz Band in the JazzBuffalo Poll. For two decades, Wendell Rivera’s Latin Jazz Projects have represented Buffalo both locally and internationally by recording original Latin Jazz music and bringing together the best Latin Jazz musicians in the area.  Wendell Rivera will be joined by an ensemble of top musicians.  Featured are Lisa Hasselback-piano, Mark Harris-Bass, Hansel Herrera-Trumpet, Calvin Rice-Trumpet, Joey Gonzalez-Drums, and Wendell Rivera-Congas. Join us on August 6th for an unforgettable experience at Wendell Rivera’s concert. His electrifying performances are guaranteed to leave you breathless dancing!

Make plans for September 3rd to join us for the Buffalo Jazz Festival at the Richardson Hotel and Richardson-Olmsted Park. Despite bad weather last year, we had a full house at Seneca One Plaza and are excited to be moving to the Richardson campus this year. Get ready for a day filled with jazz music from amazing performers like the Jay/Sharp-tet, Lindsey Holland Quintet, Donny Frauenhofer Plays Herbie Hancock, and the Troy Brothers Organ Quintet. We also have a special guest, New York City-based saxophonist Mike Troy, joining his brother John Troy. Don’t miss out on this exciting day of jazz!

We are beyond thrilled to finally bring our community together at the Richardson-Olmsted Park Campus and The Richardson Hotel Buffalo for three events. Food trucks and drinks will be available. Please share the news and invite your family and friends to join us!
