“Blue Trane” Portrait By Raymond Skalski Celebrates the Legend John Coltrane

Drawing inspiration from the classic recording “Blue Train” by John Coltrane, his only Blue Note album, portrait artist and musician Raymond Skalski has created a memorable depiction of the legendary jazz giant. Born on September 23, 1926, Coltrane would have celebrated his 97th birthday today, had he lived beyond his tragic death in 1967.

The most famous tune from the “Blue Train” album is, of course, the title track itself.

Skalski masterfully captures Coltrane with his saxophone in a classic and evocative style. He employs various hues and shades of blue to convey the essence of the “Blue Train” theme. We invite you to take a moment to appreciate this wonderful portrait.
