Art of Jazz Series Begins Friday, November 10
Four Acclaimed Studio Projects Highlight the 2023-2024 Season
The highly anticipated return of the Art of Jazz Series to the newly transformed Buffalo AKG Art Museum for the 2023–2024 season promises to deliver an unforgettable jazz and cultural experience. With an extraordinary lineup featuring both emerging talents and legendary jazz icons, the series showcases a unique concept of bringing studio mastery to the live stage.
For over two decades, the Art of Jazz Series has stood as one of the esteemed jazz events in North America. Now, it returns to the Buffalo AKG with captivating musical studio projects presented by Grammy® Award winners and nominees and some of the most skilled artists, composers, and arrangers in jazz, all aimed at capturing the essence of studio perfection and bringing it to the live stage.

In the upcoming season, the Art of Jazz Series will highlight four remarkable studio project concepts, promising unforgettable and distinctive experiences. Audiences will be treated to four carefully selected studio projects, each showcasing the artists’ unique interpretation of jazz while capturing the mastery of studio recordings. Bringing them to life on the stage of the Buffalo AKG auditorium.

Featuring an extraordinary lineup including Gary Smulyan, Anaïs Reno, Pete Malinverni, Matt Wilson, Diego Rivera, Boris Kozlov, Rudy Royston, Dan Wilson, Rodney Whitaker, Terrel Stafford, Tim Warfield, Bruce Barth, and many others, this series will leave jazz enthusiasts spellbound, creating lasting memories.

The November 10 kickoff concert will present “Tadd Dameron: A Celebration of Songs.”

“Tadd’s All, Folks!” is the acclaimed studio project and album by a fantastic group of musicians led by the seasoned 6-time Grammy® winner baritone saxophonist Gary Smulyan and featuring Anais Reno on vocals. In a tribute to the vibrant compositions of bebop maestro and legend Tadd Dameron, the ensemble will take the stage at the transformed Buffalo AKG Art Museum auditorium for a night, celebrating their masterful arrangements that uniquely pair Dameron’s music with lyrics.
