A Mix of NewComers and Favorites Gives Everyone Music To Enjoy
Once again, the Northwest Jazz Festival will grace Center Street in Historic Lewiston, NY for two unforgettable days in August 2024. Set to unfold on Friday, August 23, and Saturday, August 24, the festival will feature four stages showcasing an array of performances by talented musicians from the WNY region. Recently, the festival unveiled its theme for the Main Stage, which revolves around celebrating the Great American Songbook. Additionally, there’s an exciting Main Stage homecoming evening planned for Lewiston native and New York City-based jazz pianist, Pete Malinverni.
In addition to the Main Stage’s Great American Songbook Celebration, four other stages will host performances by local, regional, and national jazz artists. A new event will debut on the Center Street Stage in partnership with the swing dance organization SwingBuffalo. The festival will introduce SwingBuffalo Presents Friday Night Dance featuring the Anderson Big Band. The festival will also welcome the Harmonia Chorale Jazz Ensemble for the first time on the Center Street Stage.
Continuing an initiative that began in 2017, the festival will once again offer a stage for our youth to showcase their talent with performances by Matt’s Vocal Performance Team on the Center Street Stage on Friday, August 23. The Peace Garden Stage will spotlight contemporary and jazz duo music this year, featuring newcomers vocalist Ann Mitchell from Rochester, Brazilian jazz guitar master Stephan Guerra Duo, and jazz guitarist Simon Fletcher Duo. At the DiCamillo Courtyard Stage, the focus will be on jazz guitar solos, while the Frontier House Stage will feature notable trios and quartets, including a homecoming for saxophonist Wes Lewis and his quartet from Connecticut to his hometown of Lewiston.
