Internationally Renowned Jazz Artist Makes Rare U.S. Appearance
The Art of Jazz Series at the Buffalo AKG Art Museum proudly begins its 2025 season with an evening that the jazz community simply cannot miss. Dena DeRose, a three-time Grammy nominee renowned as “The Voice of Jazz Piano,” will bring her exceptional artistry and dynamic performance to the stage. Her seamless blend of vocal and instrumental brilliance, coupled with a deep emotional connection to her music, makes this a must-see event in Buffalo’s cultural calendar.
Dena DeRose will open the 2025 Art of Jazz Series on Sunday, February 2nd at 3 pm.
A global jazz treasure, Dena DeRose’s accolades are numerous, and her artistry is deeply respected. The New York Times’ Terry Teachout once noted, “She sings jazz as if she had been at it her whole life long,” a testament to her mastery and authenticity. Her latest Grammy-nominated album, Ode to the Road, reflects her inventive spirit and serves as a tribute to her journey and the trio’s creative bond.
JazzCorner wrote:
It’s no small accomplishment to be thought of as “The most creative and compelling singer & pianist since Shirley Horn”, but that’s exactly how the Washington Post described Dena DeRose. If she comes to your city and you want to catch the show, go early, because the room is going to be packed. She awes her audiences and music critics with her facility on the piano and her swinging, soothing vocal style.”
This concert offers a rare chance to experience DeRose’s exceptional jazz artistry in the United States. Her demanding international schedule and commitment to teaching in Austria and across Europe significantly limit her U.S. performances.
The Art of Jazz Series at Buffalo AKG Art Museum offers a rare opportunity to experience DeRose’s jazz mastery in an intimate setting. Don’t miss this performance that celebrates more than just music—it celebrates a legacy of collaboration, resilience, and the transformative power of jazz.
