A Night of Swinging Sophistication with Caity Gyorgy
JazzBuffalo and Kleinhans Music Hall are thrilled to present an extraordinary evening of jazz in the Mary Seaton Room on Saturday, June 21, 2025, featuring the exceptional talents of Caity Gyorgy.
Hailing from Canada, this two-time JUNO award-winning vocalist has quickly become a rising star in the jazz world. Renowned for her bebop and swing-inspired performances, Gyorgy has captivated audiences across North America and collaborated with renowned artists such as Christine Jensen, Benny Benack, III, Emmet Cohen, and Postmodern Jukebox.
Her distinctive blend of vintage charm and contemporary flair has earned her widespread acclaim. DownBeat Magazine raves, “Canadian jazz singer Caity Gyorgy…is a skilled songwriter whose originals sound as if they are from the 1950s with more modern lyrics.” Similarly, WholeNote Magazine praises her remarkable versatility, describing her as “high up the list of young singers to watch.”
Her original compositions—reminiscent of the Great American Songbook yet infused with contemporary lyrics—have garnered acclaim, including the 2021 John Lennon Songwriting Contest Grand Prize in Jazz for her hit “Secret Safe.”
Gyorgy’s latest album, Hello! How Are You?, has been lauded for its fresh interpretations and heartfelt originality. Joining her will be the phenomenal Mark Limacher, the acclaimed jazz pianist who collaborated with Gyorgy on the widely praised duo album ‘You’re Alike, You Two.’ In which the dup performed the music of Jerome Kern. His expressive playing and deep musical connection with Caity perfectly complement her infectious energy.
This is a rare opportunity to witness one of jazz’s brightest talents in the intimate and acoustically rich setting of the Mary Seaton Room. Don’t miss this magical evening that promises to showcase Caity Gyorgy’s impeccable vocal artistry and leave you spellbound.
