The final day of our NYC jazz adventure was unforgettable, and filled with incredible moments and connections.
Highlights included:
– Kicked off the day by gathering with my daughter and Jess Basil from Kleinhans Music Hall at a NYC Bills Mafia bar to cheer on the Bills to victory!
– Enjoyed the exceptional Sivan Arbel from Israel and her profound “Oneness” performance and message—an inspiring experience.
– Was dazzled by the amazing entertainment of Gunhild Carling from Sweden, whose charisma and multi-instrumental talent lit up the room.
– Witnessed the legendary Keith David, renowned actor and narrator of the Ken Burns Jazz documentary, take the stage as a jazz vocalist—what a powerful performance! Must get to Buffalo!
– Listened to the phenomenal – very young – jazz pianist Brandon Goldberg, whose amazing talent and poise evoke memories of a young Emmet Cohen—simply outstanding!
– Ended the day on a high note with April May, the most recent winner of the Sarah Vaughan Vocal Competition, alongside rising star trumpeter Randall Hayward—a deserving winner indeed!
The week has been a tremendous time of discovering new talent, engaging in meaningful conversations about strengthening our jazz community and sharing the message of Buffalo as a must-visit jazz destination for both emerging and international artists.
Thank you to everyone I met, and New York City, for the inspiration to make Buffalo an incredible jazz destination!
