A Celebration of a Unique Collaboration
Tonight marks an exciting reunion for Buffalo’s beloved jazz fusion ensemble, Grüvology — a band that, for several years running, captured the hearts of music fans and earned the distinction of Favorite Jazz Fusion Band in the annual JazzBuffalo Poll. With a signature blend of originality, creativity, and electric synergy, Grüvology carved out a special place in Buffalo’s modern jazz landscape, delivering performances that pushed musical boundaries while captivating audiences.
At the heart of Grüvology’s sound are two of Buffalo’s most innovative musicians — Bernard Kunz on guitar and Walter Kemp III on piano and keyboards. Their dynamic interplay of intricate melodies, improvisational prowess, and rhythmic explorations defined the group’s unique approach to jazz fusion, blending elements of jazz, funk, world music, and experimental soundscapes.

The reunion of Grüvology is not only a celebration of their past achievements but also a testament to the enduring power of creative collaboration. Adding to the excitement, the performance will feature special guests who have performed with the band throughout the past 18 years, offering a glimpse into the band’s rich musical journey and ever-evolving sound.
As they take the stage once again, the band promises to deliver the kind of high-energy, boundary-pushing performance that made them one of the city’s most cherished musical ensembles.
Congratulations to Bernard Kunz and Walter Kemp III on this long-awaited reunion — a thrilling night to rediscover the magic of Grüvology and the vibrant spirit of jazz fusion in Buffalo.
The reunion takes place at Sportsmen Tavern on March 1st at 8 pm with admission set at $20.
