Jazz in Buffalo: Exciting Rising Stars Shine On Buffalo

Bright Stars In Jazz Shine On Buffalo

This past weekend was nothing short of extraordinary. As the Emmet Cohen Trio took the stage for the finale of this season’s Art of Jazz Series, the energy in the room was unmistakable. From the moment Emmet, Phillip Norris, and Joe Farnsworth walked on stage to an immediate standing ovation, it was clear we were about to experience something special. Much gratitude to everyone who filled the Buffalo AKG Art Museum with joyful noise—your enthusiasm and support continue to make moments like these possible.

On Friday, June 21, we welcome the next-generation rising star Caity Gyorgy to Buffalo at Kleinhans Music Hall’s Mary Seaton Room. With three JUNO Awards to her name and major festival appearances ahead—including her debut at the Monterey Jazz Festival—Caity is quickly becoming one of the most talked-about voices in jazz today. Let’s continue to build Buffalo’s growing reputation for presenting the very best in internationally acclaimed jazz. I encourage you to be part of this important moment—let’s give Caity the kind of warm Buffalo welcome that makes our city stand out.

Warm regards,
Tony Zambito
Executive Director, JazzBuffalo

Act fast—every week you wait makes this can’t-miss event even more essential! Rising-star vocalist Caity Gyorgy secured her third JUNO Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album with Hello! How Are You? and on April 16 unleashed Asking for Trouble, a dazzling duo album with Mark Limacher, celebrating Frank Loesser’s classic tunes. Now, brace yourself: her brand-new single “That Doesn’t Matter” dropped May 16, leading into a full, string‑arranged album this summer. Don’t let time slip away—lock in your plans today!

Caity will visit Buffalo the day before her appearance at Dizzy’s at the Jazz at Lincoln Center! She’ll be a headline at the Montreal International Jazz Festival and make her debut at the Monterey Jazz Festival—two of the world’s premier stages for jazz. With her distinctive vocals and songwriting gifts—melding the timeless elegance of the 1950s Great American Songbook with modern clarity and emotional depth—she’s already capturing fans and critics alike. Just as we presented and predicted with the likes of Veronica Swift and Smara Joy, it’s only a matter of time before she claims that Grammy and reaches stardom.
