A Celebration of Community, Culture, and Summer in Buffalo
This weekend, one of Buffalo’s most cherished summer traditions returns—and I couldn’t be more excited to welcome you back to Jazz at Richardson.
Over the past two years, what began as a hopeful experiment—placing live jazz outdoors on the historic grounds of the Richardson-Olmsted Campus—has grown into something truly meaningful. We’ve watched audiences gather with lawn chairs, picnic blankets, picnic baskets, coolers, sumptuous spreads of food, and smiling faces to soak in the summer sun and experience the magic of jazz together. From young families dancing with their kids to longtime jazz lovers reconnecting with the music they hold dear, Jazz at Richardson has become a gathering place for our community.

This year, we’re keeping the tradition alive with four free Sunday concerts, starting this Sunday, June 29, from 4 to 7 pm. The series opens with a warm, family-friendly tribute to the music of Vince Guaraldi and the beloved Charlie Brown & Peanuts Gang, performed by the Croft, Wasik, Docenko Trio. It’s the perfect way to usher in the summer with nostalgia, joy, and timeless melodies that span generations.
From there, we’ll journey through soulful organ jazz with Doug “Trigger” Gaston and his all-star quartet on July 13; get on our feet for swing dancing with the Brass Machine’s New Orleans Music on August 10; and celebrate with the 4th Annual Buffalo Jazz Festival on August 31—a full day of performances showcasing the vibrancy of our local jazz artists.

Thanks to the steadfast support of Douglas Development Corporation, the Richardson Hotel Buffalo, and the Richardson-Olmsted Campus, we’re able to offer this series free of charge once again. Their commitment to uniting our community and revitalizing our historic spaces through music has made all the difference.
I hope you’ll join us this summer—to connect, to relax, and to celebrate the power of music in the heart of our city. Bring a friend, bring the family, and bring your love of jazz. Let’s make this another summer to remember—together.
Visit jazzbuffalo.org for all the details, and we’ll see you on the lawn.
