A Picture-Perfect Start to an Exciting Jazz at Richardson 2025

Ed Croft Trio brings the beloved music of Vince Guaraldi to life as Jazz at Richardson opens with sunshine and smiles all around.

This past Sunday marked a spectacular kickoff to our 2025 Jazz at Richardson series, and what a beautiful day it was for our community to come together and celebrate the joy of music. Under clear blue sunny skies and a gentle summer breeze, we welcomed the extraordinary Ed Croft Trio—featuring Ivan Docenko on piano and Dave Wasik on drums—for a captivating tribute to the Vince Guaraldi Songbook.

From the moment the trio launched into the familiar melodies of “Linus and Lucy” and other classics, to the rare gem “The Red Baron,” we were transported into the nostalgic world of Charlie Brown and the Peanuts Gang. The performance was nothing short of stellar—playful, lyrical, and artistically moving. It was the perfect blend of family-friendly fun and high-level musicianship that captured the essence of what Jazz at Richardson is all about.

The vibe on the Richardson-Olmsted lawn was warm and joyful—families on picnic blankets, kids dancing freely, and longtime jazz fans soaking in Guaraldi’s timeless music. It’s days like these that remind us how powerful live music can be in bringing our community together.

We invite you to enjoy this fantastic photo gallery by Jack Zuff, which beautifully captures the spirit of the day. From smiling faces to magical musical moments, the images reflect the unique and cherished experience of Jazz at Richardson.

Here’s to many more summer Sundays like yesterday—see you at the next one on Sunday, July 13!
