A Reflection on Coming Together Today for the Buffalo Jazz Festival Prelude: A New Orleans Celebration

To Our JazzBuffalo Community

Today, we gather not just for music, but for something deeper — a moment to come together as a community. The Buffalo Jazz Festival Prelude: A New Orleans Celebration is more than an event; it’s a testament to our city’s resiliency, our shared love of jazz, and our belief in the joy that comes when we celebrate together.

Over the past month, JazzBuffalo and Tappo Restaurant have made considerable investments of time, effort, and resources to create a space for our community to celebrate in the true spirit of New Orleans, to bring that vibrant spirit alive right here in Buffalo. More importantly, to transform a disappointing setback into a chance for something truly remarkable.

Today is also a chance for us to stand together in support of these efforts. To demonstrate that we can bounce back with strength and purpose.

We will be making a collection for donations, as we have before, during the event, to help sustain and grow this community-driven adventure. Your generosity will help ensure that we can continue bringing our community together through music, culture, and celebration for years to come. You can also contribute easily through Venmo or PayPal. Every amount — big or small — helps us bring the joy of Jazz and Community to our city.

So, let’s fill the air with music, laughter, and the rhythm of hope. Let’s celebrate what we’ve built together — and what we can continue to build, one note at a time.

See you there,
Tony Zambito
Executive Director, JazzBuffalo

While Tappo Restaurant will be offering special drinks and food, and Big Ditch Brewery will be open, you are welcome to bring your own chairs, coolers, and other items—just as you’ve done before with the Jazz at Richardson experience. We’ll also have plenty of chairs available.

And, just like they do in New Orleans, bring umbrellas—not for the rain, but to pop up for a little shade from the sun. There will also be shade on the street from the surrounding buildings.

Since it’s a Sunday, there will be plenty of parking available near Ellicott Street and Huron Street. Additional parking can be found on Washington and Mohawk Streets in the Electric Tower area. Parking lots and ramps will also be open, with some charging low weekend rates.
