A Joyful Partnership
One of the most beautiful aspects of jazz is its ability to bring people together—not only through listening but through movement and joy. At the heart of jazz is dance, and thanks to the dedicated work of SwingBuffalo, swing dancing has seen an exciting revival in our city.

Under the inspiring and passionate leadership of Jeff Baker and Judy Pellegrino for the past decade, SwingBuffalo has evolved into a welcoming community where people of all ages can come together, learn, and most importantly, share in the joy of dancing to jazz. Their efforts have created a vibrant space where the timeless swing rhythms of the Great American Songbook connect generations.

As partners with JazzBuffalo, we are grateful for the way SwingBuffalo has helped remind us all that Jazz is Joy—and one of its foundational joys is dancing. The annual Rhythm Shuffle is a perfect example: a full day of workshops filled with energy, learning, and camaraderie, culminating in a spirited night of dancing. This year, the celebration reached new heights with the incredible music of The Boilermakers from Pittsburgh, whose sound filled the dance floor with uncontainable excitement and non-stop dancing.

SwingBuffalo has also been a welcome addition to enhancing both the Lewiston Jazz Festival and the Buffalo Jazz Festival, bringing a lively, family-friendly energy that resonates with audiences of all ages. Their presence has added a special dimension to these community gatherings, demonstrating how dance and jazz, together, can uplift and unite us all.
The revival of swing dancing alongside jazz in Buffalo is more than a trend—it’s a movement that strengthens our community and enriches our cultural fabric. With SwingBuffalo spearheading a swing dancing revival, this joyous evolution has become a vital part of the exciting, ongoing jazz story in Buffalo.
