An Exciting, Swinging, and Joyous Beginning for Jazz at Kleinhans

A special thank you to our JazzBuffalo community!

Last night, we witnessed something truly special. The inaugural concert of the new Jazz at Kleinhans program arrived with an electrifying burst of joy as Louis Prima, Jr. and The Witnesses lit up the iconic Mary Seaton Room. From the very first shout to the final horn blast, they delivered the kind of high-energy performance that reminds us why we love this music—why it moves us, lifts us, gathers us.

Special shout-outs to two of our hometown jazz artists performing with Louis Prima, Jr. last night, Elliot Scozzaro on saxophone and Griffith Kaczmierczak on trumpet!

And gather we did. More than 400 strong, a completely sold-out house, clapping, cheering, and—yes—dancing in the aisles. It was a momentous beginning to a new chapter, one we have dreamed about and worked toward intentionally: building Buffalo’s Premier Jazz Center at Kleinhans Music Hall.

But the truth is this—you made it possible.

Your presence, your enthusiasm, your belief in what JazzBuffalo is building for our city… that is the reason last night shone as brightly as it did. We cannot express enough our gratitude for your faith, your trust, and your support as we take this major step forward together.

And we are just getting started.

On Sunday, February 15, Jazz at Kleinhans returns with a celebration of Buffalo’s most precious contribution to the world of music and the Great American Songbook. We are honored to present Tierney Sutton, the extraordinary nine-time Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist lauded worldwide for her elegance, depth, and luminous artistry.

This special celebration will feature jazz vocalist extraordinaire, Tierney Sutton!

We cannot wait to share this experience with you—a time that promises to be as meaningful as it is musically inspiring.

Thank you once again for making last night truly memorable.
Thank you for standing with JazzBuffalo.
And thank you for helping us build something beautiful for the future of jazz—and for the future of Buffalo.

With appreciation and excitement,
Tony Zambito
JazzBuffalo / Producer, Jazz at Kleinhans
