The Jazz Lounge Launches with an Exciting Night at the Historic Statler

A Sold-Out Evening of Music, Community, and Warmth—Even on the Coldest Winter Night

Despite some of the coldest winter weather we’ve experienced, the inaugural night of The Jazz Lounge could not have been warmer in spirit, energy, or community. We were thrilled to welcome a full house to Milton’s at the historic Statler Building, where the room was alive with conversation, connection, and a genuine sense that something special was unfolding.

From the moment guests arrived, there was a tremendous vibe—welcoming, relaxed, and social in exactly the way we envisioned when creating The Jazz Lounge concept. Much credit goes to the outstanding Statler Hospitality team, who helped set the tone we were hoping for the evening. The drinks were fabulous, the service attentive, and the overall atmosphere inviting, making it easy for people to settle in, mingle, and enjoy the night.

Musically, the George Kane Trio, joined by special guest Cheryl Ferris, captured the room beautifully. Their performance created a true jazz lounge ambiance—sophisticated, engaging, and perfectly suited to a social listening experience. Even with what we later discovered to be a cracked window letting in frigid winter air, the warmth of the music and the company carried us through. People stayed, smiled, listened, and shared the moment together—exactly what The Jazz Lounge is meant to be.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who braved the cold and helped make this inaugural night such a night to remember. Your presence affirmed that there is a real desire for this kind of social jazz gathering in downtown Buffalo, especially in a landmark space with such a rich history in jazz.

Please enjoy the fantastic photos from the evening by JazzBuffalo contributor Jack Zuff, which capture the spirit, energy, and joy of the night far better than words ever could.

Thank you to the musicians, the Statler team, our contributors, and most of all, our community. This was a truly special night—and a meaningful first chapter in the story of The Jazz Lounge.
