Tony Zambito joins Judge Penny Wolfgang on On Target to reflect on JazzBuffalo’s journey, the growing impact of Jazz at Kleinhans, and the vital role arts and culture play in shaping Buffalo’s future.
I’m pleased to share that my recent conversation with Judge Penny Wolfgang on her podcast On Target, heard across Audacy stations, is now live and available to watch and listen.
The discussion offered an opportunity to reflect on the journey of JazzBuffalo—from its founding to its continued evolution—as well as the growing significance of Jazz at Kleinhans and the extraordinary role Kleinhans Music Hall plays as a cultural anchor for our city. We also explored where jazz stands in Buffalo today, and how intentional leadership, collaboration, and vision continue to elevate our city’s place on the broader jazz landscape.
A meaningful part of the conversation focused on something close to my heart: the essential role that arts and culture play in downtown revitalization and in strengthening Buffalo’s overall quality of life. We spoke about initiatives such as the Buffalo Jazz Festival, Tappo JazzMondays, The Jazz Lounge, and Art Meets Jazz as tangible examples of how cross-arts collaboration can build community, create vibrancy, and foster a deeper sense of place.
I’m grateful to Penny Wolfgang for creating space for thoughtful, substantive conversations and for her continued support of arts and culture in our community. If you’re interested in where jazz in Buffalo has been—and where it’s headed—I invite you to take the time to listen or watch.
