Cinco de Mayo in Buffalo: A Celebration of Music, Culture, and Community at Beebe’s on the Square

Wendell Rivera Latin Jazz Quartet and Oralia’s Traditional Mexican Cuisine return for a vibrant evening in a unique dual-gallery setting.

Buffalo once again embraces the spirit of Cinco de Mayo with a special evening that brings together music, culture, and community in a unique setting.

While Cinco de Mayo is more widely observed regionally, it has grown into a lively and meaningful celebration here in Buffalo. As noted by Toni Ruberto of The Buffalo News, the city comes alive with gatherings across restaurants and venues—and this year, JazzBuffalo is proud to host once again a distinctive celebration in collaboration with the Hunt Gallery and Beebe’s on the Square in downtown Buffalo.

At the heart of the evening is the Wendell Rivera Latin Jazz Quartet—featuring Wendell Rivera, Lisa Hasselback, Nelson Rivera, and Calvin Rice—bringing an engaging blend of Latin jazz rhythms, musicianship, and energy that invites both listening and dancing.

Adding to the experience, we welcome back—by popular demand—Oralia’s Traditional Mexican Cuisine and the start of their Taco Tuesdays. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy authentic dishes and flavors that complement the festive atmosphere of the evening.

What makes this event especially unique is its setting. Taking place across both the Hunt Gallery and Beebe’s on the Square, attendees are invited not only to enjoy the music and cuisine but also to explore current art exhibitions throughout the evening. This includes “Polly King: Niagara Falls Authority on Power, Portraits and Fantasy,” on view through July 1 at Beebe’s.

It is an evening that reflects what JazzBuffalo continues to build—experiences that bring people together through the arts.

Cinco de Mayo at Beebe’s on the Square promises a memorable night of rhythm, flavor, and shared celebration in the heart of downtown Buffalo.
